About this series:
A series of Ordnance Survey’s general tourist regional mapping at different scales for selected counties and popular areas of Great Britain. Each map is one-sided and displays simple, easy-to-use road information, with insets showing street plans of selected city centres and enhanced tourist information. The series is aimed at the tourist market and is good for touring and local route planning.
Road detail differentiates motorways, primary and minor roads, highlighting toll bridges. Coastal paths, National Trails, National Cycle Routes and Long Distance Routes are marked, alongside ferry-routes and railways details. A general impression of relief is depicted by simple altitude tinting and spot heights of major peaks. Basic topographic features, like woodland, built-up areas, and water features, are marked.
Symbols are used to show places of interest and various tourist information and facilities, like World Heritage Sites, markets, recreation and sport facilities, hostels, campsites, bus and coach stations, car parks and public toilets, historical sites, beautiful beaches and viewpoints. Scenic routes and areas are separately highlighted and places of interest are listed.
In addition, each map features selected individual town navigation maps to aid driving through busy urban areas, and an index of place names.
